about Paul
My passion for sport has largely influenced who I am and continues to guide my personal and professional life. From my beginnings in rep hockey and club basketball to varsity baseball and skiing at the University of Guelph, sport has been a fundamental part of my personal growth and social development.
I moved to Whistler in 2002 with plans to ski for the winter season. I fell in love with the Coast Mountains and the energy of this corridor. It felt like home to me. Years of coaching skiing and planting trees throughout the Canadian West provided me with a personal understanding of repetitive and traumatic injuries. I have needed my own injury rehabilitation and reconditioning throughout my years in sport and therefore understand the importance of comprehensive rehabilitation and sport specific training programs. My personal experiences with injury and recovery inspired my return to school to pursue an education in Athletic Therapy.
Being an Athletic Therapist and Strength and Conditioning Specialist allows me to share my knowledge about the resiliency of the human body with others. I thrive when helping active individuals overcome injuries, maintain physical wellness and return to their sport or activities.
My practice is individualized and guided by on-going communication and education. I aim to enhance my client's understanding of their own capacity to heal and to physically excel. I combine manual treatments, including muscle energy technique, joint mobilizations and soft tissue release, therapeutic modalities and exercise rehabilitation to address injury and dysfunction. Movement and performance of the human body is the result of the musculoskeletal system working in harmony. This is why I use a full-body approach to developing efficient movement patterns and a balance of strength and mobility.
I live here in Squamish with my beautiful wife and our cute and very energetic daughter. I continue to coach skiing during the winters and spend the rest of my spare time with my family, enjoying all that Squamish has to offer.
